Not aware of the barrel being removed - however the barrel in question has a history of being abused and filled with household trash.

This barrel was removed due to excessive household trash. Once the barrels within the park are removed for the season, that barrel will be put back.

That is not a valid reason for removing a trash barrel at the park's primary pedestrian entrance. If that's DPW's best reason, then post that explanation where the barrel stood. Oherwise, it looks like DPW is negligent and indifferent to park users and the neighborhood. This park has done a huge turnaround from the days when it was covered in trash. Through your efforts, the new fence, paving job and grass maintenance show a commitment. I would like to know how many times the barrel was overflowing with residents' trash because I pick up stuff on the ground twice a day and have seen it full once. Or twice. Hardly acregular thing to justify its removal.z
The scuttlebut among park users is that the city simply could care less because its "that" inner city neighborhood. Please return it pronto because trash is accululating in the planters and blowing around the streets.

As previously stated the barrel will be put back.
